Inland Printing was a print shop based in Walla Walla, Washington, owned and operated by the Graves family for a couple of generations. It closed in 2009. The letterpress equipment was stored upstairs until the recent sale of the building, which has inspired a very rapid move of equipment and materials. The climate, being generally dry, has been ideal for storing the type and equipment in good, if a bit dusty, condition.

If you’re on this website, you’re seeing items as I found them, so apologies for dust, unrelated items in shots, and generally unglamorous staging as we hustle to clear the building. If you see a film on materials, you can be assured it is dust, not mold, and you’re welcome to request additional images to be sure of the condition of materials. We’re listing the items on discovery in hopes that we can get it all placed with letterpress artists early and avoid having to liquidate on the open market.

If you have interest in a specific item, please feel free to ask and I’ll verify details and get additional pictures as needed. So far, spot checks into the drawers have proven to be accurate, and drawer interiors have been photographed (and are currently being uploaded) so you have a general sense of the volume of type in each set. We’d be delighted to sell the type cabinets fully loaded, offer reasonable discounts for group purchases, and do have a few extra drawers (mostly California style) that we will sell at a reasonable price if you need some for your purchased type. If you see prices that seem out-of-bounds, explain why you think so and we can have a friendly conversation about it.

This is an ongoing process of discovery, and updates will appear at the top of this page. If I later discover items which match what you already purchased, you’ll probably receive a little surprise in the mail with any stragglers.

Sales are first-come-first-serve and the deal isn’t done until payment is received, so items currently in play will be marked “pending”, with updates happening every evening. If you see something you want that doesn’t have pricing yet, or is pending, you are welcome to send a waitlist request and will be notified if something sells or becomes available. We accept Venmo, cash, credit/debit cards, PayPal, and can provide a detailed invoice on request.

Some items may be loaded directly out of the loft of the original location in downtown Walla Walla. The building has a sturdy car ramp that used to serve the auto body shop and exits directly into the alley. Other items have been moved to Waitsburg, WA (20 miles away) in a location with concrete floors at street level and easy curbside access on Main Street.

We’re glad to work with your preferred shipper, but costs and the coordination responsibilities are yours. Small goods can be shipped in USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate Boxes at your cost. We have no fear of international shipping, but cannot be held responsible for customs issues.

You are welcome to come peruse the collection yourself, and Walla Walla is as lovely a place as any to make a weekend adventure of it. Let me know if you need hotel, dining, or wine tasting recommendations.
